Best day ever.

Harriett and I had the best time making these cookies on Sunday. You paint them with an egg yolk and food coloring wash before you cook them and then ice them afterwards. Neither one of us pay a lot of attention to detail but I love how they turned out. Harriett said she had the best day ever after we were finished. She makes me smile.

Also I made a butt-load of burp cloths for the new baby. I make them out of pre-folded cloth diapers (very spit-up absorbant) and sew a strip of cute fabric down the middle. Super easy, super cheap and I think they are super cute. Our local quilt shop has been getting the best fabric in lately. Go Corn Wagon Quilt Company! I may have gone overboard on the polka-dots.

Beautiful cookies! And beautiful burp clothes! I really wish we lived closer and could be crafty together. Or I could watch you be crafty.

"...best day ever..." very cute. I tried to have a similar best day ever with W a couple of days ago, but it turns out he's more interested in eating the cookies before they get frosted.

I'm glad to know about The Pioneer Woman Cooks, and I'm glad to know how to make fun burp clothes! Thanks.

I am basking in the crafty-ness of it all. SO CUTE!!! Where did you come up with the idea for the burp cloths?

Janell,
You will have so much fun.
As for the burp cloths they are beyond easy. Anyone who sews would look at those and laugh at how simple they are.

kelsey,
I made sure Henri was in bed before embarking on these cookies. Maybe I am a bad mom but I didn't want to deal with the mess Henri would make out of it all. You are brave.

Bev,
Thanks, as I said before really I am not so crafty but I will take the compliment.

Anon,
I saw the idea on a sewing blog I read. She put pretty ribbon on hers but I was too lazy.

Renee,
I agree. The fabric was just too cute to pass up.

Sandy,
I so wish you lived closer too. You got a sewing machine didn't you? You could totally make these for Penelope.

Fortunately Penelope doesn't spit up. Neither did Ava. But UNfortunately, that means I never had much use for all the adorable spit cloths I've acquired over the years...Though now Ava does use them for her doll blankets.

I am going to have to mail you the cutest polka-dot fabric and matching ribbon that I got for a SUPER DEAL last year fantasizing I would make myself a fashionable skirt with but now realize I haven't got the talent to do so.

We made these cookies this year. They were so fun and easy. And tasty! Adelle and Joel loved painting the cookies. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
