Kindergarten and Frosting

So yesterday was Harriett's first day of school. She did so good and so did I. We of course were running a few minutes late but managed to get her there on time and get a few pictures along the way. Micah had to carry her part way in order to accomplish the on time thing. (she is a bit of a slow walker)
When we got to school there weren't as many dorky moms taking pictures of their kids as I thought there would be. I wanted to get a bunch of her in her classroom but I felt like too much of a psycho mom. Oh well. I did get this picture of her hanging up her backpack. She had a really hard time reaching the hook. She managed though.
I was sure I was going to start bawling as soon as I dropped her off at school but I didn't. In fact I didn't cry at all. I guess I was looking forward to it more than I thought I was. She is still so small to be going to school though.
Harriett said she had a good day at school. She seems to like her teacher, as do I. Mrs Tanner is her name.

As I mentioned previously Henri just had his birthday. He turned one on the 18th. He is a fun kid. It is so funny to see the difference between him and Harriett. Henri laughs at everything. He is a pretty happy kid in general. Harriett on the other hand was pretty hard to crack. She has always had a very quarky sense of humour. Anyway, back to Henri's birthday. All I need to say is that he loved his applesauce spice cake with cream cheese frosting. Here is some evidence.

Renee,
We don't feel that old but I guess we are. It doesn't seem real though.

Bess,
FANTASTIC job on the blog. I just instantly got caught up on all these amazing events like Henri's first bday and Harriett's first day of school. wow. i need to sit down and reflect on all this. Thanks for the e-reminder, apologies for being a bad emailer, and enjoy your one on one time with Henri. (I think you've already got more photos of him than my parents took of me when we were kids... guess the thrill wore off pretty quickly! ;)

Hugs and kisses to everyone,
carol

Harriett is so cute in her little back pack. She is so sweet. Henri is cute as could be. I can't beleive that he is one already. This blog thing is pretty neat.

Good job Bess. I love the pictures of Harriett. I was one of the psycho mom's that dragged the whole family plus the camera to the first day of school. In fact, we still do. :)
As for you and Renee feeling old, try having 4 stinkin' kids -- two in school and one of them baptized!!! ;)

I'm SO GLAD you got her an adult sized backpack. there's the obvious financial advantage (it will fit her all throughout the years of her formal education) and there's an even more obvious comedic advantage too.

Now I hope that you and Harriett never see my classroom or you might thing that I am pretty lame...What cute pictures of Harriett and Henri. Do you remember when we placed the game at your first baby shower about not being able to say the word "cute"? (Maybe we should play that game on your blog...) Anyway, good work with your babies.
