Hot Or Cold

I brush and rinse my teeth with warm water. I think it makes the toothbrush bristles softer and just feels better in my mouth.
Micah brushes with cold water (gross to me) and thinks warm is a little weird.
I am curious to know if one of us is the oddball or are we both normal (normal tooth brushers not normal people). What temperature do you use? Please tell.

Okay, this has definitely been up for debate in the George Family, as well. When Derek and I married, I was shocked to discover that he brushed his teeth with warm water. GROSS! GROSS! GROSS! He always turns the faucet to warm if I have started brushing before him (I am a cold-water brusher. Go Micah.). Derek once said something about his mom brushing his teeth with warm water, so I thought of it as a habit passed down from Mommy. I have to admit, though, that every once in a while, I have indulged in a warm water rinse, especially when my teeth are feeling sensitive or the bathroom is freezing. Now you have me thinking about how we are to raise our daughter: as a cold brusher or hot brusher...

And one more question that continues to spark over-the-sink controversy in our home: Do you wet the toothbrush BEFORE or AFTER applying the toothpaste? I do it after, to make everything nice and wet, but Derek thinks that it all gets too soggy and only wets the brush before the paste is on...

Oh I definitely wet the toothbrush after. I like everything nice and wet as well....with warm water though.

Warm without a doubt...might be due to my highly sensitive teeth!

Cold water definitely and I always wet the brush after the toothpaste. I don't know about Brody...I will have to go ask.

We have had many a discussion about me not rolling up the toothpaste as I use it though.

me- wet before the paste-COLD water
steve o-wet before, let lots of water run until it gets hot enough to really soften those bristles- i guess. Weird...

So I am definately a cold water after toothpaste wetter. No warm water loving wimpy "the bristles are too hard" teeth here.

I brush with tepid water; probably a reflection of my inability to commit to anything. And the water goes on AFTER toothpaste application, of course. I wasn't born in a barn, you know. LB

P.S. It was GREAT to see you guys! Thanks for having me and making me feel so welcome. I miss the kids already!

warm to brush (softer bristles) and cold to rinse (cleaner feeling).

When Bess and I got married I thought that she was crazy for brushing with hot water, for me refreshing minty toothpaste must be accompanied by cool clear water. I thought everyone felt the same. Who knew it was such an issue?

Sandy, as for wetting the toothbrush before or after the toothpaste it's not really something that I'm particular about (though, it does have to be wet; Harriett brushes frequently with a dry brush and it grosses me out). I mostly do it after, but it doesn't bother me to do it before, in fact it doesn't really bother me to brush with warm water now too.

I thought perhaps it was a family thing to use warm water, but this morning I asked Amie and she says she uses cold water. I think my washroom is always colder, so maybe its that, or I am getting the water ready to wash my face and do not want to wait for it to turn warm again.
As far as wetting my brush before I put the toothpaste on... I always put the toothpaste on before. If not I find I have problems with it falling off before it reaches my mouth..

Cold water, no question. And I'm with Micah about when to wet the brush--before or after doesn't matter as long as there is water involved. Dry brushing sends shivers up and down my spine.
